Miss Rose is up first, and since my attempt at humorous bride differentiation based on Godzilla enemy alter-egos was resoundingly unsuccessful, I will henceforth refer to Miss Rose's creation as cake no.1.
A traditional fruit number has been requested, and since it will need time to mature, Miss Rose needed to get busy. While in my opinion it is difficult to make the preparation of a fruit cake seem interesting, bride no.1 was keen to see their cake develop, and so for that exclusive purpose, today involved taking the usual ingredients...
And mixing them together in a slightly less than usual way...
Miss Rose was literally up to her elbows in cake batter, but luckily wasn't too phased by the experience, as apparently it felt quite luxurious.
Hmmm...
Each cake was then baked for hours... and hours... and hours...
...and three of the four tiers are now happily maturing, including this monstrous beauty:
So, with the cakes now baked and growing up on their own, bride no.1 will have to wait a few weeks until icing rehearsals commence. In the meantime bride no.2 can start getting excited as recipes have been chosen, construction plans have been made, and test baking will begin shortly...
